5 - 30 January 2009 - Shakespeare in the Park
Shakespeare in the Park held at Pioneer Women's Kings Park in the Perth Botanical Gardens is an outdoor spectacle of theatre not to be missed. This year the performance of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' marked the debut play of Western Australia's newest theatre company Shakespeare WA.
Against the backdrop of a dark sky glittering with stars, the entertaining production is set to spark.

The UWA Perth International Arts Festival is brings Perth alive with theatre, dance, music, visual art and multimedia. The oldest annual arts festival in the southern hemisphere, Perth's international festival was established in 1953 and is held in February each year, attracting more than 300,000 to the three week event, building Western Australia's arts culture.
28 February - 2 March - Perth Writers' Festival
Perth Writers' Festival, part of the Perth International Arts Festival, celebrates all things literary. The event invites authors to discuss anything from politics to travel, writing workshops and the opportunity to socialise with fellow booklovers.

The Australian Surf Life Saving Championships at Scarborough Beach in Perth is the nation's largest surf lifesaving event where competitors put their strength to the test with a number of challenges in the waves, stirring excitement from the many spectators that come out to enjoy the sand and waves and competitions.

The 2009 Kings Park Festival has a beautiful display of Western Australian wildflowers in bloom in the Botanic Garden and across the Park over the first month of spring.
During the month, the festival will also hold gardening and art workshops, free family fun days and jazz in the Botanic Garden.

The Perth Royal Show held in the Claremont Show Grounds, Perth, is one of the largest and exciting agricultural event in Western Australia. The two-month long show promises agricultural events, exhibitions, animal displays and trade shows, up-to-date advice as well as stalls, rides, food and wine.
You can also enjoy a traditional funfair, live music and entertainment, finished off with a spectacular show of fireworks.
