NICK Riewoldt has had stitches in his right hand after playing half of Saturday's game with the hand in a protective glove.

Riewoldt, who tore webbing in the hand and also dislocated a finger, is expected to play against Fremantle in Perth on Sunday, Saints officials said yesterday.

Geelong's Mark Blake will have tests this week after hyper-extending an elbow in the match against Melbourne at the MCG last Friday night. Blake left the field but returned with his armed taped.

Geelong doctors will test Blake and several other players this week, although Blake's injury is not considered serious enough to keep him out of next Saturday's match against Sydney

Two other Cats, Paul Chapman (hamstring) and David Wojcinski (Achilles), could be back this week, while Tom Hawkins (foot) could play in Geelong's VFL side.

The Swans are hopeful that Leo Barry will have recovered from a hamstring injury and be able to play against the Cats. Nick Malceski will return from a calf strain.

Meanwhile, there is speculation over Lance Franklin's kicking leg after Channel Nine's Dr Peter Larkin said the forward had corked his thigh in the match against the Brisbane Lions on Saturday, and could hardly walk that evening.

A spokesman for Hawthorn said Franklin was not injured and had completed the team's recovery session yesterday morning. Franklin kicked six goals against the Lions. -- LUCY BATTERSBY
