SOUTH Dragons coach Brian Goorjian celebrated his 700th NBL game with Sunday night's 91-87 road win over Perth.

The Dragons were down by four heading into the final quarter before turning up the defensive heat.

Former Hawks guard Cortez Groves led the Dragons with 23 points and Adam Gibson finished with 17.

"There will be more (coaching milestones) in the future because I'm getting older and because I've been coaching for a million years, so I hope this doesn't add extra pressure on the guys to win in years to come," he said.

"I'm glad to be involved with a group that wants to play well and has a thirst to get better. I'm going to enjoy the rollercoaster ride with these guys."

The highly rated Wildcats are 0-2 for the season, both losses coming against the Dragons.

"We're still learning to play with each other," Perth coach Connor Henry said.

"I'm not concerned. How can I be? There's still a lot of basketball to be played. We will be all right. I have confidence in these guys."
