ILLAWARRA products Leif Selby and Karen Murphy have been selected in the Australian team that will take on bowls superpowers England, Scotland and Malaysia in Perth later this year.
Selby, who learned the game at Warilla, and Murphy, who lives at Shell Cove but plays for Sydney powerhouse Cabramatta, will team with Queenslanders Robbie Thompson and Kelsey Cottrell for the Perth International, which will be played at Mosman Park from March 2-8. Murphy is Australia's top-ranked female bowler and Selby won the 2008 World Champion of Champion Singles. The duo are expected to spearhead Australia's first foray as a team since last year's world championships. The duo are two of the 10 NSW bowlers selected in Australian squads last year. The Perth tournament will be the start of a busy year for the Australian squad which will climax with the Asia-Pacific Championships in Kuala Lumpur in August.
