Thursday February 19, 2009
Perth Deputy Mayor Janet Davidson, who joins City of Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi, makes women in leading positions in Perth rise to two, after being elected by Perth councillors on Tuesday.
"I am honoured to accept this position and will support Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi and other elected members in their endeavours to ensure the city continues to be held in high regard," she told online publication Perth Now.
Taking over Michael Sutherland's position following his resignation, Ms Davidson has been a Perth councillor since 1998.
She plays a significant role in the City of Perth council, chairing the City of Perth council's finance and budget, and employment committees, as well as the City of Perth Superannuation Fund.
Ms Davidson is also Western Australian president of the Australian Local Government Women's Association in Perth, Australia.
