The Perth Writers' Festival Begins in Perth Today

Saturday February 28, 2009

The Perth Writers' Festival 2009 launches today and continues until Monday 2 March, celebrating the written word in the form of over 100 events including discussions with authors, writing workshops and storytelling, of course.

Located at the University of Western Australia – a proud partner of the festival – the Perth festival will feature authors who will talk about their books and hot topics.

This year's lineup includes 2008 Booker shortlisted Sebastian Barry, bestselling writer James McBride from the New York Times, and Kate Grenville, as well as Robert Dessaix, who will hold a tantalising event, the Literary Lunch with Robert Dessaix, at the Perth university.

Over from New York is the popular literary event The Moth, featuring some of the greatest authors to come to the Perth festival.

Hear what Alan Wiseman has to say about his bestselling book The World Without Us, as well as Mark Kurlansky, who wrote the loved books Cod and The Last Fish Tale.
For a chance to indulge in all things literary, the Perth Writers' Festival has plenty of book talk held over the three day event.
