Island Off Perth, Western Australia, Ready For Upgrade

Rottnest Island off the Western Australian coast in the Indian Ocean prepares for improved facilities, a new hotel and boat moorings.

Popular getaway island, Rottnest is about to undergo a $14.5million five-year draft management plan, the Rottnest Island Authority announced on Tuesday.

Planned for the island off the coast near Perth, Western Australia are 25 projects with a major one being a new hotel at Mt Herschel.

Other projects include a new camping ground, new eco-tourism adventures and projects that will help increase recognition of the island';s Indigenous history.

Additionally, a marina for ferry and charter boats off the island are also being discussed as part of the plan – a change to the original jetty and moorings currently located at Thomson Bay.
