Perth Winter Arts Festival
Friday May 29, 2009
Perth is holding the annual Perth Winter Arts Festival over the chilly months so when the outdoor weather is too cold to enjoy, you can keep warm inside while being entertained by the performing arts.
From 1 June until 31 August, Perth is hosting an array of international and national music, theatre, dance film and the visual arts.
On the cards for 2009 is a strong line up of music performances with Concert Paradiso: A Concert of Italian Baroque Music, the ABC Symphony Orchestra Young Performers Awards 2009, Australian jazz favourite Grace Knight and New York City's tenor saxophonist George Garzone hitting all the right notes. You can also see Australian folk musician Ben Lee performing with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra at Perth Concert Hall.
Theatre productions that are being eagerly anticipated include The Seed by Perth Theatre Company, The Memory of Water and Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing by the Black Swan State Theatre Company.
For lovers of dance, the West Australian Ballet will perform Romeo and Juliet at His Majesty's Theatre, and film aficionados will enjoy Warren Miller's Children of Winter, which will be shown at Perth Concert Hall.
