Perth Rated as Top Place to Live

Perth has been rated as one of the world's top five places to live, according to Britain's Economist Intelligence Unit's 2009 Liveability Survey that survey 140 major cities.

Ranked equal fifth with Calgary in Canada, Perth was behind Melbourne ranked third, behind Vancouver, Canada in second place while Vienna in Austria came in first.

The survey assessed the cities according to stability, education, health care, culture, environment and infrastructure, giving a rating out of 100.

Sydney shared ninth place with Zurich, Switzerland while Adelaide rested in 11th place and Brisbane at 16.

New Zealand's Auckland and Wellington came in at 12th and 23rd respectively. The highest-ranked city in Asia was Osaka at 13th place with Hong Kong rating 39th, Singapore at 54th and Seoul, South Korea coming in at 58th.

The worst city to live in is Harare, capital of Zimbabwe.
